What makes you most proud to be Ukrainian?
What makes us most proud of being Ukrainian is that our ancestors were Ukrainians, and this is the place of our birth.
What gives you hope for Ukraine’s future?
Our faith in God and the people who defend our country give us hope.
What are the most challenging and rewarding aspects of your work?
We are really grateful that we can respond to people’s needs. However, trying to put together a good team to do this work is a constant struggle. Our efforts are hampered by the war and a lack of money. We’re really pleased that Our Daily Bread helps us with their Team Oleksandrivka project. That makes a big difference.
How does your work has impacted people’s lives?
The people we help gain hope and a reason to live. They feel supported not only morally, but also materially (firewood, things, hygiene products, water, chickens, seeds, stoves, food and much more). People are starting to develop again, plant vegetable gardens, and raise livestock.
What’s your favorite place in Ukraine, and why?
Our favorite place is the city of Severodonetsk, where we were born, but now it is occupied. Now we love Oleksandrivka because it is a very special place with beautiful landscapes and warm open people.
What would you like people outside Ukraine to know about your country?
Ukraine is a fertile country, with beautiful cities and villages and very hospitable people. It is the breadbasket of Europe.
And finally, what’s your favorite Ukrainian dish?
We really like Ukrainian borscht with meat and sour cream.
