About Yevhen and Natasha
Location: Oleksandrivka (Donbas)
Projects: Frontline, Future4Kids, and Livelihoods
Yevhen and Natasha are well-known and loved by the residents of Oleksandrivka, a rural town on the edge of the Donbas region. Everybody there seems to know them. Natasha works for the local council and Yevhen is a full-time pastor. However, Yevhen does more than look after people’s spiritual needs. He gets medicines for housebound people, fills up older people’s water bottles at the water collection point or takes people to hospital appointments. And both he and Natasha make time to actively listen to people and encourage them. If you spend a day with Yevhen, you’ll get a unique insight into how a community in Eastern Ukraine works. And as you travel around in his van, he’ll keep you supplied with cups of coffee and local street food like chebureki (deep-fried pancakes filled with minced meat).
