Why Future4Kids?
We give young people opportunities to meet, be themselves, learn, and have fun. But also deal with the trauma and negative emotions caused by the war.
Future4Kids supports three initiatives:
- Jacaranda Communities of Hope program
- Children Mission
- Good4U club
Jacaranda
The Jacaranda Communities of Hope program empowers ordinary adults without medical training to provide effective trauma-healing support to children. The program’s foundation is giving children undivided attention and unconditional love so they feel heard, valued, and safe.
Our Daily Bread ran a Jacaranda training camp in Ukraine in August 2025. Eighteen Ukrainian adults completed the training, which included running an emotional support camp for 38 war-traumatized kids. These adults now use the skills they learned in their work with children. For example, in emotional regulation clubs for kids, incorporating play therapy into after-school clubs or teaching children how to express what they feel. Our Daily Bread supports former Jacaranda trainees with these activities and encourages them to train further via the courses of Children Mission.
“I really received a great blessing by attending this training. Jacaranda made a significant contribution to the understanding that children who have experienced trauma need special attention, and this knowledge helps to correctly shape our classes and work with them. The “Jacaranda” training gave important knowledge on how to develop emotional intelligence, teach children effective communication, and help them to better understand themselves and others.
In our church, we taught children ministers to conduct a family circle and now we use it at every meeting. The children really like it. Storytelling also takes place. This activity diversifies our classes and gives children the opportunity to imagine, fantasize, and then comprehend parables and stories. We collect materials and games for emotional regulation, because every time children need something new!“

Children Mission
Children Mission equips adults to work with children and to care for traumatized kids. Structured training courses, webinars, and workshops help teachers, volunteers, and churches build emotional resilience, understand trauma, and create safe spaces for children to grow.
Two of their trainers took part in our Jacaranda training in August 2025. That led to positive discussions with Children Mission director Lyudmila Bryn. These discussions revealed that Children Mission already has a well-developed training system, competent trainers, and a large network. We realized that working with Children Mission was closer to our ideal of empowering local churches and organizations. Therefore, we decided to continue our program with Lyudmila and her team, putting Ukrainian leadership at the center, where it belongs.
Children Mission will use the Jacaranda experience to develop their own training module on running emotional support camps that is adapted to the Ukrainian context. Later, they also plan to develop a webinar on incorporating emotional safety into children’s camps, as this is often overlooked in Ukraine.
Jacaranda trainer Tim Friesen will act as an advisor in this process to ensure the Jacaranda expertise and experience are passed on well to his Ukrainian counterparts. Our Daily Bread will play a facilitating role. For example, we will help Children Mission develop a good website to make their courses more widely known and as a vehicle to attract more funding. And we will support the roll-out of the training and camps.
Good4U club
The Good4U club in Oleksandrivka (Donbas region) offers children a safe place to forget about the war for a while, relax, have fun, and build healthy relationships. The club helps children develop essential life skills and learn about their rights and responsibilities in a supportive environment. Since schools and sports clubs in Oleksandrivka have been closed due to the war, many children have few opportunities to connect socially and often spend hours on their phones or on the streets. Good4U provides a positive alternative with board games, crafts, sports, and fancy dress activities, giving children a sense of normalcy and joy.
Unfortunately, when Russian advances forced in the summer of 2025 and Oleksandrivka became a frontline town, the Good4U Club was suspended. Most of the children in Oleksnadrivka have now been sent by their parents to safer locations in Ukraine.
Our Daily Bread now works with our partner Natasha Nadiuk to do whatever we can to support the children still left in Oleksandrivka.
