Oleg Usatiuk’s compassion extends beyond his frontline visits to soldiers. Through our Home Front project, he reaches out to families experiencing the devastating loss of their loved ones who never returned from battle. These families face a difficult reality: empty chairs at dinner tables and birthdays that pass without the presence of someone deeply missed. In these moments of profound grief, Oleg’s visits provide crucial emotional support when many families feel forgotten.

“The bitterness of grief can be all-consuming,” explains Oleg. “Having someone who understands the unique challenges these families face can make an immeasurable difference.”

For children who have lost their father, Oleg brings special gifts that create positive moments of connection during their grieving process. His quiet demeanor establishes safe spaces where families can express their raw emotions without judgment.

Through Oleg’s ministry, these families find support from someone who acknowledges both the fallen soldier’s ultimate sacrifice and the ongoing sacrifice their loved ones make each day as they learn to live with absence.

“Our presence helps them deal with their trauma. Thank you, Our Daily Bread, for supporting us.”
